Walmart Inc. (WMT) is the most famous American retail business. It is the largest company in the world by revenue and also the largest private-sector employer in the world with a staggering 2.2 million employees. Walmart benefits from economies of scale and a wide network of stores spread out across the US. It is also developing its online business. Being one of the most recognizable brands globally, Walmart has a long runway for growth, and its future prospects are bright.
The Long term monthly chart for Walmart shows no significant uptrend until about 2016. Since then, however, the price has more than doubled. The uptrend was a clean one, with the price mostly respecting the bottom trend line. After crossing the $150 mark towards the end of 2020, the price has pulled back without decisively breaking the previous swing high. So, the uptrend is intact, and the most recent reversal occurred at the bottom trend line. A re-test of the $150 level is likely. A stop-loss can be placed below the bottom trend line at around $132.
Position entered into our long-term tracking portfolio today. The entry point is at $151.54, and stop-loss is at $122.06, which is 19% below the entry point. The short-term to medium-term take profit at the top of the trend is set at $163.51, giving a profit of 8%.
